Nino - Spring Encounters

May 9th, 2006 (09:30 pm)

current mood: ボケってる。。

Nino.... he talks about the heater incident, the ball game he went to and food cooked by Watanabe Ken...LA must have been a real eye opener for him.....
Great article and a joy to translate... ^_^

His Nose, heater, WBC, Watanabe Ken, Good shooting location!

Watanabe Ken made me some rice dish.

Nino is currently in the US filming the “Letter from Iwojima”. He talks about the encounters he has in an unfamiliar place, which is filled with lots of exciting things.

Spring Encounter No. 1

Problem No. 1 : For some reason, I keep getting cuts inside my nose.

For some reason which I don’t know, when I got to LA, my nose kept on bleeding. For many days. It was really painful and it was troubling me. Then scabs would form over the parts that had been bleeding. Then, the scabs in my nose would prevent the flow of air from flowing smoothly into my nostril and I could feel that it was painful for me to breathe. So I decided to pick out the scabs in my nose and then when I did that, it started bleeding again. It was very painful… and the whole cycle started again. I know its bad to pick on the scabs, but I couldn’t stop myself from doing it. Somehow, I really wanted to do it.

Problem No. 2: Despite the cold, I couldn’t use the heater

LA was colder than I thought it would be.  It was cold to the extent that you couldn’t do without a heater, even tho it was supposed to be spring.  So I wanted to use the heater in my hotel room, and when I switched it on, what I turned on was the air con!! (bitter laugh). Regardless of the fact that I turned the dial to “Heater”, the draft that came out was cold….I called the hotel staff and they fixed it for me and just when I thought that the heater had started working, this time, it became terribly hot cos somehow the thermostat wasn’t working. I had no choice but to sleep with the windows open on my first night in LA.

Spring Encounter No. 3

Moving event no 1: I was able to catch the WBC match between Japan and Korea

The first weekend when I was in LA, 伊原剛志-san invited me to watch the WBC match between Japan and Korea. So although we were traveling quickly, the distance between our hotel and to where the ball game was held in San Diego (in a place called Petoko Park??!! - I dunno know the English equivalent for the Japanese pronunciation)  was far! The distance was about 220km. By the way, it seems that it is normal to travel such distances in the US and this fact also surprised me. Because, if you travel about 30 mins further from that place, you would reach Mexico. Iya… the US is a really big country. Iya.. it was great that Japan won… (laugh)

Spring Encounter No. 4

Moving event no. 2 : The food that Watanabe Ken cooked

When I went to LA, when I talk about what moved me, it was the food that Watanabe Ken cooked for us.  It not “what he cooked for us” It was “what he was cooking for us”. In other words, I use this phrase in the present continuous form. He said “ You probably miss Japanese food” and followed up on his word. I am really thankful for this.  I don’t really have an attachment to food, I thought that I would surely be eating hamburgers everyday when I was in the US. So, the fact that I could received such a favour from Ken-san….. Maybe it will be until the time the filming ends….. iya… I fully look up to Ken-sama. On top of that, when both of us are talking, I was a little slow-witted, and Kan-sama laughed at me. I had the feeling that I had become an interesting person. I like that Ken-san very much.

Moving event no. 3: Great Place = Deep Ties = Satisfaction

It is also applicable in Japan, but to me, the most important thing is the place where the film is shot (shooting location).  If the location is bad, the cast and the staff would find difficulty in making the movie.  So to make a location a great place, its not others, but ourselves that make it happen. This time, in order to make the location a great place, the actors and the other makers of the movie, each and every one of us, asked ourselves how we could make the movie such that we can make the people who come to watch satisfied. Addressing this question and discussing over it is evidence that the ties between the people on the shooting location are deepening. I am satisfied that I can experience such a thing.

Mago Mago - hairstyles, hairlstyles.. I ain't no hairstylist, but its not gonna stop me from giving my two cents worth anyway.. ^_^

Sho-kun, what long side burns you have....
"The better to impersonate Elvis, my dear...Now hand me that guitar and those big square shades..."

Jun looks great in this hairstyle.... the androgynous mushroom bob to suit the most androgynous Arashi member?!

Nino -  ...................... I've nothing to say.. just keep growing it, bro!! (and start eating more, please.... ^_^.. I wanna see an arashi member in summer, not  a Japanese WWII soldier)

And finally, satoshi-kun, his hair down for once...  I like it either way, whether up or down..kawaii yo!

Aiba - did't get a full close up shot, so I'll leave my comments out for him!

Lookie at the crowd he attracted!! Even the guys had their cameras out...
And... I bet he's thinking... how the hell am I going to make my getaway from the circus outside?!!

I like the way he's rolled up the sleeves of his shirt and the sweater together.... *How to dress, Jun Style, Lesson 1!!* But note to myself: Make sure the buttons don't look like they're gonna burst anytime!  Its the preppy look and he reminds me of Toma!!!
Lesson 2: kakkoi colour coordinates - white belt on kakhi green looks great too!
